Mission Inspiration.

I have been watching the activities of a group called Mission Inspiration.  It is hosted be the very affable Mike Deakin and each month he gives out a challenge and then demonstrates his version.  So this month  inspired by my talented friend Roz Willoughby, I decided to give it a go.

The prompt is given in the form of a secret mission with the steps laid out.  This is the list for December.
1  Cover with book text fragments.
2  Add a thin layer of gesso or paint.
3  Apply texture paste through a stencil.
4  Spritz with colour or ink.
5 Add patterned paper shapes.
6 Add journaling or scribbles.
7  Add festive focal image/s.
8  Apply a little bling or sparkle.
9 Add title or quote   (I missed that!!)
10 Finish with border of your own choice.

So here it is....without title or quote  :(

Post Card Swap.....iHanna

About twice a year I join in a post card swap hosted by Hanna at   http://www.ihanna.nu/postcard-swap/.  It is delightful to send and receive small pieces of art from all over the world.

I have been part of this for several years and it is great fun.  Usually I use watercolour paper but this time around I used cereal boxes cut to size.  Good firm card, I make my post card on one side and attach printed post card backs to the other side to address and send.

After the closing date Hanna sends an email with a list of addresses which may be anywhere at all.  Very exciting.

I did something different this time, I used a collaged background and then placed my focal images over the top.  I usually do painted backgrounds. I do hope the people who receive them enjoy them.  Some acknowledge when they get them and some don't.  It's always nice to hear if the mail arrives safely.  It is not a direct exchange.  Everybody's list is different.

Much fun!!

#aags30daychallenge Days 9 and 10.

I saw this done on a Youtube video and I was impressed so I thought I would try it.  Sadly I didn't bookmark the vid so I can't go back to see what happens next. It is a 2 part technique so I did it over two days.

I put a heap of heavy duty acrylic onto my canvas in two colours and white and the got my fingers into it.  The idea is to develop lots of texture and then I left it to dry. Below is Day 9 development.

Day 10 and I had to rotate my canvas and do it again.  Makes for very interesting fingers and anything else I touch.  Then with a plastic card scrape all over to make lines. Fun and messy.  What next? No idea.

Close up look at the texture created.

#aags30daychallenge Day 8

I am certainly not as consistent as some of my friends who are doing this challenge.  No matter here is my latest effort.

After scaring myself silly with all that white I decided I needed to have some colour.  The paints I used here are sample pots we got at Bunnings when Louise and i did my lovely Elinor.  Small i is to signify the small amount I did in our 'collaboration'.

I bought a nice sponge at the reject shop and here is the result. Certainly prefer it now and I see lots peeping through.

#aags30daychallenge Day 7

Oh my gosh!!  What have I done?  When I say that I don't know what I am doing I am sure nobody really believes me.

Today I decided to cover my canvas with white paint.  I spread it with a girt card and then to get really excited I blotted it off with paper towels to add some texture.  Well that's what happened and now what??

Enjoying watching other players especially Roz and Colleen, but I think they are more in control of what they are doing than I am.  We will see what the next chapter brings.

Here is a closer shot to share the texture.

#aasg30daychallenge Day 6

I'm not being very regular with this challenge.  I think I lost my way because I just seemed to be going over the same places and not getting anywhere.  So today I did a background in a little journal a friend made for me...AND...I had left over paint!! So what's a girl to do?  Use it up!!

So here we have my latest and brightest.  These are Delusions paints.  I did the yellow with the tube from paper towel and the green is MY FINGERS!!!!

And just for fun my little journal background:

This 30 day challenge may keep me busy till Christmas the am I am going.

#aasg30daychallenge #3 & #4

Day 3  Decided to have another try at getting drips.  They worked but I am not so impressed with the outcome.

Day 4.  I was doing some gelli printing and the light bulb flashed.  What would happen if I cleaned my brayer on the canvas??  Let's find out.  And this is what happened.  Just some surface scrapes of pink and yellow.  Cool!!

Here is a close up view of part of my canvas with the brayer work.  Interesting I do believe.

#aags30daychallenge #2

After a little interruption to my daily life I am home again and set forth to complete Day 2 of the challenge.

My idea was to create lovely drips as I have seen others do.  Sadly not as easy as I thought and I did it wrong.  Oh well I did get some drips but it was not what I was seeking.  Roll on session 3.

I used a beautiful colour.  It was Violet by Chromocryl.

#aasg30daychallenge

I have decided to have a go at making a painting on a canvas.  First time for everything.  Our Art Group has had a challenge put forward.  The idea is to do a small part of a painting on the canvas for 30 days.  May be a little or a lot depends how the artist feels, but the agreement is to work on the same canvas for 30 days.

For my first layer and to get some rich colour down on my new, very white canvas I decided on a mix of cool colours.  I chose Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Sea Breeze, Viridian and Phthalo Green.  Yum!!

Here is what I achieved on Day 1.
